In the lecture room of “Institute On The Constitution” hang two large picture/posters. One shows the Biblical view of government; the other shows the Pagan view of government.

What these respective views are is summarized on each picture/poster. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend – daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and former Lt. Governor of Maryland – is a perfect example of the Pagan view. She has many concerns that are valid. She sees many problems that I believe are problems.

But, she is Biblically and Constitutionally mistaken in believing that these concerns and problems must be dealt with by civil government, by the Federal Government, by the State, regardless of what the Bible and Constitution say.

Her new book is titled “Failing America’s Faithful: How Today’s Churches Are Mixing God With Politics And Losing Their Way” (Hatchette Book Group, USA, 2007.) We discussed her book in this recent interview here. And I’ll say this: To her credit, although she misapplies Scripture, she at least quotes it, and tries to relate it to politics – unlike most of the so-called “leaders” of the “Religious Right.”

*Seriously, she is. I’m not being snide. But, as I have said before, and I mean it, our Christian nation was, alas, destroyed by “nice” people, in the pews and pulpits.
