- The Fear Of Freedom The following, which first appeared in the “California Farmer” publication February 1, 1975, is particularly relevant today since President Bush never tires of telling us, erroneously of course, that all people everywhere have always desired “freedom” all the time. And, sad to say, Mr. Bush believes it is the job of our nation to spread “freedom” all over the world – and “democracy” — by, if necessary, bombs and bullets – J.L. 08/21/07
- The Meaning of Theocracy Few things are more commonly misunderstood than the nature and meaning of theocracy. It is commonly assumed to be a dictatorial rule by self-appointed men who claim to rule for God. In reality, theocracy in Biblical law is the closest thing to a radical libertarianism that can be had. 07/20/06
- Rushdoony On “Politics” — 1973 Suppose one religiously believed that human sacrifices were a necessary part of religious worship, would it be seriously contended that the civil government could not interfere to prevent sacrifices? Can a man excuse his practices…because of his religious belief? To permit this would be to make the doctrines of religion superior to the law of the land; and in effect be to permit every citizen to become a law unto himself. Government could exist only in name. The court assumed at that time the validity of Christian morality without acknowledging it, and it also posited the priority of the state. This does not alter the fact that every law order is a particular kind of moral order even when, as in the scientific socialist state, it denies the validity of morality and moral judgments. 03/04/10
