Derek J. Howell, Esq. Named “Director Of Operations” For “Institute On The Constitution”

Michael Anthony Peroutka, co-founder with his brother Steve of “Institute on the Constitution,” has issued the following statement:

DEREK HOWELL, ESQ.

“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Derek J. Howell, Esq., as “Director Of Operations for the “IOTC.” Derek is the right man to direct our operations at this time. He comes to us when there is a growing interest in what we are doing: teaching courses on the U.S. Constitution, the Maryland Constitution, and our jury system; conducting, most months, our “First Friday” event which features a speaker and topic relating to our work.

“Even before officially joining us, Derek was involved with teaching our U.S. Constitution course in Bel Air, Maryland, and in Jefferson, North Carolina.

Derek J. Howell, Esq., earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, both with honors, from the Johns Hopkins University. Derek is a decorated former Maryland state trooper. He spent over ten years with the Maryland State Police before leaving to obtain his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Derek is an attorney and consultant. Derek is licensed and admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland and in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Derek is also an adjunct faculty member of the Community College of Baltimore County, where he teaches Criminal Justice & the Constitution and Introduction to Law.

Derek is a Christian and enjoys studying the Bible, American history (especially relating to the Founding Fathers’ era), and the Constitution and Constitutional law. In his spare time he also enjoys lacrosse, skiing, NASCAR, hunting, fishing, target shooting, the beach, and collecting old books. Derek and his wife, Jenna, live in Abingdon, Maryland.
