- The Patriot Act Is At War With The Constitution I am grateful for the opportunity to speak on behalf of the Campaign for Liberty about the USA Patriot Act. Provoked largely by the gruesome abominations of 9/11, the legislation was born of fear and uncertainty from abroad. Fear, however, is the fount of tyranny. James Madison, father of the Constitution, warned centuries ago in opposing the tyrannical Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798: “Perhaps it is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to provisions against danger real or pretended from abroad.” 05/11/11

- Holding Down The Fort It is easy to miss an important, though underappreciated, aspect of the role of a woman in the management of her household. The stay-at-home woman, be she a wife, mother, or daughter, has as a central focus: the well-being of her family members. 11/10/10
- The End of (Military) History “In watching the flow of events over the past decade or so, it is hard to avoid the feeling that something very fundamental has happened in world history.” This sentiment, introducing the essay that made Francis Fukuyama a household name, commands renewed attention today, albeit from a different perspective. 08/02/10
- Anatomy Of A Pro-Life Campaign In Mississippi: How, By God’s Grace, We Got The “Personhood Amendment” On The Ballot — Round One A few weeks ago it became “official”. The Mississippi Personhood Amendment will be on the ballot in 2011. The brief meeting with the Secretary of State and small, sometimes contentious/ sometimes humorous press conference that followed was the culmination of a year of signature collection and many years of planning and preparation. 04/28/10
- Paul Craig Roberts Signs Off, Says American Truth Has Fallen and Taken Liberty With It There was a time when the pen was mightier than the sword. That was a time when people believed in truth and regarded truth as an independent power and not as an auxiliary for government, class, race, ideological, personal, or financial interest. Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it… 03/25/10
- Thoughts on an Interview with General Stanley McChrystal Recently I saw an interview with General McChrystal, head butcher of the the Pentagon’s Democracy Implantation Force in Afghanistan. The General was explaining our ongoing victory. Yes, victory. We were making progress. It was only a matter of time. He could see the light at the end of the tunnel. He didn’t explain what were doing in a tunnel in the first place. I guess he forgot. 03/10/10
- The Road to Armageddon he Washington Times is a newspaper that looks with favor upon the Bush/Cheney/Obama/neocon wars of aggression in the Middle East and favors making terrorists pay for 9/11. Therefore, I was surprised to learn on February 24 that the most popular story on the paper’s website for the past three days was the “Inside the Beltway” report, “Explosive News,” about the 31 press conferences in cities in the US and abroad on February 19 held by Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, an organization of professionals which now has 1,000 members. 03/04/10
- No More Muslims In U.S. Military! It became evidently almost immediately that the mass murderer in yesterday’s killing spree at Fort Hood was a Muslim who was motivated by jihadist impulses. Nidal Malik Hasan had told fellow soldiers that the Muslim who killed two recruiters last summer in Little Rock, Arkansas had done the right thing. He spoke openly of his belief that the Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq should rise up and fight the aggressor, by which he meant the U.S. military of which he inexplicably was a part. 11/11/09
- Another War In The Works — America Is Led And Informed By Liars Does anyone remember all the lies that they were told by President Bush and the “mainstream media” about the grave threat to America from weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? These lies were repeated endlessly in the print and TV media despite the reports from the weapons inspectors, who had been sent to Iraq, that no such weapons existed. 09/30/09
- The Conservative Movement In Chapter 11 Before discussing the future of the so-called conservative movement I should tell those who do not know me that I have been a critic of prominent features of the movement for a few decades. I have complained about its obsession with politics and its disproportionate interest in public policy and economics. Really to change a society you need to transform the mind and the culture. I have complained about the movement’s propensity for formulaic thinking, its blithe acceptance of the anti-historical theorizing of Leo Strauss and the Straussians, and about purported conservatives thinking and acting like French Jacobins. 09/28/09

- Third-Ranking Democrat In House, James Clyburn, Admits Most Of What They Do Not Authorized By The Constitution The same Congress that wants to tell family farmers what to grow in their backyards has declined “to keep regular” the commercial sale of insurance policies. It has permitted all 50 states to erect the type of barriers that the Commerce Clause was written precisely to tear down. Insurers are barred from selling policies to people in another state. 09/21/09
- Socialized Healthcare vs. the Laws of Economics The government’s initial step in attempting to create a government-run healthcare monopoly has been to propose a law that would eventually drive the private health insurance industry out of existence. Additional taxes and mandated costs are to be imposed on health insurance companies, while a government-run “health insurance” bureaucracy will be created, ostensibly to “compete” with the private companies. The hoped-for end result is one big government monopoly which, like all government monopolies, will operate with all the efficiency of the post office and all the charm and compassion of the IRS. 07/31/09
- Dr. Herb Titus On Sonia Sotomayor: Measured By The Word Of God And Found Wanting On May 11, 2009, President Barack Obama nominated court of appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor to a seat on the United States Supreme Court. In support of this nomination, the President assured the American people that Judge Sotomayor was a deserving and worthy nominee. Not only would she be an able justice, the President intoned, she would be impartial, and she would have “empathy.” Thus, the President proclaimed that, with the nomination of Judge Sotoamayor, he had fulfilled one of his campaign promises, the one that he made to Planned Parenthood in 2007, that his judicial appointees would have “the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a teen age mom; the empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old.” 07/14/09
- Abortion Laws: A Recent Development? Reality: Throughout almost all stages of history in nations influenced by Christianity, and in other nations as well, abortion has been strongly condemned by the religious and political leadership of these nations. 06/18/09
- Christianity and War If there is any group within Christianity that should be the most consistent, the most vocal, the most persistent, and the most scriptural in its opposition to war and the warfare state, it is conservative Christians who look to the Bible as their sole authority. Yet, never at any time in history have so many of these Christians held such unholy opinions. The association they have with the Republican Party is unholy. The admiration they have for the military is unholy. 06/09/09
- Mountains of Prey Dr. Mohler is bemoaning a “culture-shift” taking place around us, “lamenting the decline - and, by implication, the imminent fall - of an America shaped and suffused by Christianity.” Mohler’s gloom over the increasing number of “religiously unidentified” people in the Northeast United States is nearly oppressive in tone: “Clearly, there is a new narrative, a post-Christian narrative, that is animating large portions of this society.” 06/05/09
- Waterboard An A-rab for Jesus In a recent column, Eric Margolis labeled the Republicans as “America’s champion of war and torture.” Those are some harsh words - harsh but true. 05/07/09
- Faith And Freedom: The Calvinist Connection Many modern libertarians assume that religion and liberty are necessarily in opposition. Many modern people in general assume that religion and revolution are opposed. At times, of course, they are, but the history of the American Revolution indicates that more care is required in making this kind of judgment. 01/15/09
- Election Day Sermon 2008: The Future of Politicians Who Give Bad Advice Election Day Sermons have been preached in America from our very beginning. “As early as 1633 in Massachusetts and 1674 in Connecticut the practice of preaching election sermons arose. These were delivered before the governor and assembly, (and in meetinghouses in local towns), year by year. Frequently these sermons were printed at government expense and distributed among the town, and the themes discussed were rediscussed in the pulpits throughout New England.”- William W. Sweet, The Story of Religion in America, pg. 177. 11/02/08
- Terri Schiavo And False Campaign Rhetoric As presidential campaign rhetoric spews across America’s airwaves, liberals of all stripes and special interests fault Republican’s for their zealous efforts to defend Terri Schiavo’s right to life. Even the prestigious financial publication, The Economist, got in on the act recently. The liberal spiel is that the federal government had no legal right to interfere with a state judicial matter. More important to Michael Schiavo and supporters is the view that family not government should decide such medical matters. 08/28/07
- A Letter From Ben Powers Regarding His Resignation From The Minnesota Constitution Party I am writing you today to make you aware of the current status of the Constitution Party, and in particular, its affiliate here in Minnesota. I have been an active member of the Constitution Party of Minnesota since February 2003. In that time, I have served as Secretary/Treasurer of the 1st District Constitution Party, Chairman of Minnesotans for Peroutka, and most recently as their US Senate candidate. 03/29/07
- The unalienable right to life in ventre sa mere Our nation was founded upon the “self-evident” truth that “all Men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,” as our founders wrote in our nation’s charter, the Declaration of Independence. “Among these” unalienable rights, the very first right the founders listed was, of course, “Life.” The Declaration recognizes the self-evident truth that human beings enjoy inherent dignity and the right to life as a direct result of being created by God. 08/08/06
- Alabama’s Justice Parker Takes On State Supreme Court On Jan. 1, 2006, the Birmingham News published a commentary by Parker in which he criticized an Alabama Supreme Court decision that let the rapist and murderer of a pregnant woman off of death row due to a recent U.S. Supreme Court opinion (Roper v. Simmons) based in part on an un-ratified United Nations treaty. 03/24/06
- Henry Morris, Father Of Modern Creationism, Dies At 87 The greatest defender of the doctrine of Creation in church history has gone to be with the Lord. No single man in the last two thousand years has contributed more to the defense of the book of Genesis or been more effective in rallying the people of God to embrace the historical, grammatical, literal, normative interpretation of its text than a humble, mild-mannered hydrologist named Dr. Henry Morris. 02/28/06
- Bush’s Untrue State Of The Union The state of the union is disastrous. By its naked aggression, bullying, illegal spying on Americans, and illegal torture and detentions, the Bush administration has demonstrated American contempt for the Geneva Convention, for human life and dignity, and for the civil liberties of its own citizens. Increasingly, the US is isolated in the world, having to resort to bribery and threats to impose its diktats. No country any longer looks to America for moral leadership. The US has become a rogue nation. 02/22/06
- The Abortion-Homosexual Connection All too often, pro-life conservatives looked the other way when ostensibly pro-life politicians and clerics embraced or ignored the homosexual agenda, as if the two issues were not closely linked. For example, the pro-life Catholic Diocese in Maine “killed us” during the recent unsuccessful vote to revoke the state’s “gay rights” law for a third time, according to a Catholic lay activist who worked on the initiative. 12/05/05

- “The Cause And Cure Of Earthquakes”: A Sermon By John Wesley First Published In 1730 The mischief it did is amazing: Fifty-four cities and towns, besides an incredible number of villages, were almost entirely destroyed. Catania, one of the most famous, ancient, and flourishing cities in the kingdom, the residence of several monarchs, and an university, had the greatest share in the judgment. Father Anth. Serrvoita, being on his way thither, a few miles from the city observed a black cloud like night hovering over it; and there arose from the mouth of Etna great spires of flame, which spread all around. The sea, all on a sudden, began to roar, and rise in billows; the birds flew about astonished; the cattle ran crying in the fields; and there was a blow as if all the artillery in the world had been discharged at once!

- Rick Jore’s Montana Nightmare: CP Candidate’s Victory Stolen, Bank Account Attacked, Property Ownership Jeopardized We were looking forward to Election Day, November 2, 2004. Two months of steady campaigning by going door to door, attending forums, designing newspaper and radio ads, letter writing and stuffing envelops had come to a close and it was a welcome relief. Little did we know that we wouldn’t know the results of the election for two additional months and that the uncertainty, frustration, and stress would only increase rather than end.
- Dave Daubenmire: Trust Me? Sadly, our Christian leadership has invested way too much into Republicanism in general, and President Bush in particular. Trusting in horses and chariots, they have been willing to hold their nose as they swallowed the rotten fruit of the Bush administration, knowing that it has always been about the Supreme Court. They couldn’t let John Kerry fill those sure-to-open judgeships. They knew HE had a litmus test on abortion. So they looked the other way as the rotten fruit piled up.
