- MICHELE BACHMANN: Her Defense Of Torture, On The Constitution, Farm Subsidies, Federal $$$$ For Her Husband’s Clinic, And Her Incoherent Position On Homosexual “Marriage”…. LET’S LOOK a bit at Michele Bachmann. She says she’s a pro-life Christian but defends torture; somewhat of a contradiction to me; waiting for someone to ask her about this. So far, nobody has. Here’s her torture view, with my comments, from Fox News (O’Reilly, 11/9/10); topic was George Bush’s new book, some recent interviews, in which Bush admits and defends his ordering and approving the use of torture:
- Discrimination Whereas liberty is a prerequisite to happiness, the unrestricted right to discriminate is in turn a prerequisite to liberty. The right to discriminate is the right to choose according to your own good pleasure (except you may not commit an injustice, that is, violate the Decalogue).
- Make Believe When you were a child, did you ever play Make Believe? Would you agree that sometimes “Make Believe” can be dangerous? Making believe you are a super hero, what if you put on a cape and jumped out of your bedroom window? …dangerous?
Questions Re: Scriptural/Legal Authority For Killing/Murdering Osama Bin Laden Not Favorite Topic On Conference Call The conference call was shortly after our being told that Osama bin Laden had been killed. Participants were: Rick Scarborough (RS), former Southern Baptist pastor from Pearland, Texas, who heads Vision America, Vision America Action and the Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration; Retired Lieutenant General William G. Boykin (WGB), a former United States Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence who has played a role in almost every recent major American military operation, serving in Grenada, Somalia, and Iraq; and Frank Gaffney (FG), founder and president of the American Center for Security Policy. My questions re: the Scriptural/legal authority for killing/murdering bin Laden were — well, not a topic that was very welcome. Here’s the way it went:- Lawsuit Over Libya Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, along with a number of other Congressmen, has filed suit in federal Court against Barak Obama for unauthorized use of the united States military in Libya.
According to Congressman Bartlett’s statements on a recent radio interview, Obama has violated the Constitution, which gives only Congress the authority to declare war, and also the War Powers Act, which requires that the use of military prior to Congressional authorization can only occur when these united States are attacked. - IOTC is offering three of its courses this fall: U.S. Constitution Course, Maryland Constitution Course and The Duty of the Jury Course This 12-week course starts at 7:00 PM on Tuesday September 13, 2011, and will be held every Tuesday evening at the same time for the 12 week duration. - Presuppositions It seems to me that whenever two courteous, thoughtful people of good will come to a serious disagreement when discussing some important matter, invariably it is because they have entered the conversation or the discussion or the debate with different pre-suppositions
